2008 Conference Recap
I would like to thank
everyone who braved the elements to attend our annual conference.
Attendance was down this year. Finances and budget cuts have affected
everyone. WAHMR has done it’s best to hold costs down. The 2008
conference was moved to Stevens Point just for that reason. Our previous
location would no longer honor the State rate for hotel room prices, so
we had to move.
Stevens Point stepped forward and offered
us the best package. We are currently searching for a location for the
2009 Conference. It seems hard to believe, but work has already begun
for next year’s conference. We received mostly positive comments on the
accommodations. The most common comment was regarding the lack of a
hotel restaurant. Rest assured, if we return to Stevens Point next year,
we will insure that there is in-hotel food service for our weary
travelers.
This year’s speakers were well received. The Hazmat
IQ guys have started a minor revolution in the State. I hope that you
were able to attend this course. We received lots of requests to bring
them back again. We will certainly give it a try. Negotiations will
begin soon on their return.
I was extremely pleased with
our class selection and instructors this year. Every session was
informative and well received. WAHMR is beginning the search for
instructors for next year’s conference. We have already received some
offers from speakers, but are always in the search for more. Please
forward any speaker or course requests to us at
